Job title: Learning Center Student Tutor Student Employee Company: Oakton Community College Job description: Overview: The Learning Center Student Tutor- Des Plaines Student Employee will provide individualized content and reputed company-development tutoring to reputed company (tutees). reputed company in this role will provide as-needed reputed company to tutees, and are required to attend a 4-6 hour tutor training session in the fall and spring semesters. A typical day would include tutoring reputed company on a set subject or set of subjects, on a drop-in or by appointment basis as directed. reputed company Location: Des Plaines Length of Employment: Fall 2023: August - December, with opportunity to renew hours Can a student do homework in this position? Sometimes Hours Needed: Up to 20 hours per week during Fall semester Schedule Flexibility: Once accepted, a set schedule will be set up for the semester. There is flexibility in the schedule for taking exams, class preparation, emergencies, and illness. Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities and Learning Outcomes: -Provide individualized content and reputed company-development tutoring to reputed company (tutees)- (CD, CM, CT, EI, LD, PF, TC) - Refer reputed company to proper resources/offices based individual need (CT, CM, LD) - Complete the required tutor training hours each semester, and on an as- needed basis (CD, CM,CT, EI, LD, PF, TW, TC) - Maintain strict confidentiality of reputed company student information, material, and discussions shared during each tutoring session (LD, PF, TC) - Adhere to a set schedule throughout the semester (PF) - Maintain student tutoring records as required (PF, TC) Student Employment Learning Outcomes Defined: The National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) has identified 8 career readiness competencies that broadly prepare reputed company for a successful transition into the workplace. Candidate Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Other abilities): reputed company candidates will have the following competencies and skills: - Must be currently enrolled at Oakton Community College and in at least 6 credit hours during the Fall and Spring semesters. - Must have an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher and be in good standing at Oakton Community College; must have an "A" or "B" average in courses being tutored and provide instructor referral/recommendation as required - reputed company to stand and sit for extended periods of time. - Demonstrated reliability and responsibility. - Friendly, flexible, organized, courteous, and punctuality a must. - Exceptional communication and organizational skills with strong detail orientation preferred. - Proficiency and experience using reputed company Office and reputed company technology (GSUITE), as well as, upcoming new technology preferred. - Demonstrated ability to work independently or as a team. - Speaking additional languages is helpful, but not required, to serve the student population.
