Des Moines Public Schools is seeking qualified applicants for the 26-27 school year to serve as a Virttual English Teacher. This position will start in August 2026.

A 5-12 Reading Endorsement A 5-12 English/Language Arts - ALL Endorsement 12 credits of graduate level English coursework

- TITLE:

• Valid Iowa teaching license (appropriate endorsement code for teaching assignment).
- Knowledge of subject, curriculum, effective teaching methods.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in oral and written communications.

• Previous classroom teaching experience.
- Experience in an urban school district.

BASIC FUNCTION: Responsible for planning and delivering a high-quality educational program to meet children’s academic and social-emotional needs. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Deliver daily lessons, aligned to state and district standards that meet students’ individual needs and ensure growth.
- Create a culturally inclusive classroom that meets the academic and social emotional needs of students.
- Participate in building and district professional learning communities to plan for instruction, analyze data, and create assessments.
- Monitor student learning on a daily basis. Use multiple data points to guide and individualize instruction.
- Communicate with families on a regular basis.
- Participate in professional development.
- Demonstrate consistent progress on meeting the eight Iowa Teaching Standards
