KL&A provides a unique work environment for detailers who collaborate with engineers and construction managers to deliver integrated projects. The Steel Detailer will be responsible for producing detailed drawings and models, interpreting contract documents, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Problem solver
  • Read and interpret structural and architectural contract documents
  • Produce 2D shop drawings, erection plans and field details
  • Modeling in SDS2 3D software
  • Implement AISC and OSHA requirements for fabrication and erection
  • Understand and utilize the standard practices of the steel industry
  • Work with multiple fabricators and their standards
  • Write and interpret RFIs
  • Work with in-house engineers and construction managers
  • Flush out changes and revisions to report cost impact to project managers
  • Manage schedules and meet deadlines

Skills

  • An associate or bachelor's degree, or equivalent industry experience
  • Able to work in the US now and in the future without sponsorship
  • Proficient at math and geometry
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Attentive to detail and quality
  • Willingness to work on structural steel and architectural miscellaneous metals
  • Willing to work in a team and collaborative environment sharing workload
  • Overtime to meet certain deadlines should be expected
  • 1-4 years experience of detailing or work in the steel industry is preferred
  • Basic engineering knowledge is an advantage for the candidate
  • Knowledge of Revit
  • SDS2 experience is an advantage to the candidate
